BASIC FUNCTION: The Laundry Supervisor is responsible for
leading the team to process the in-house linen for our internal
guests in an efficient and timely fashion, providing a professional
service as an integral part of the daily hotel operation. Maintain
the highest standards of linen cleanliness and maintenance of
laundry room. Responsible to ensure that standards of cleanliness
are met in assigned areas of the housekeeping department to provide
a high level of guest satisfaction in cleanliness and service,
within established time limitations.
QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING, & WORK
Laundry & Housekeeping experience is essential. Must be capable
of withstanding extreme heat. Ability to stand for periods of 8
hours or more. Ability to prioritize tasks in order to serve our
guests as efficiently as possible. Ability to properly record
laundry production figures for daily production reports. Ability to
communicate effectively; bilingual Spanish preferred. Must be able
to multi task dual assignments between departments on a as needed
basis communicated through the Executive Housekeeper.
- Sort linen according to accepted standards. (Terry,
pillowcases, sheets, table linen, napkins)
Weigh linen for proper load size washer. (50#, 135#, 250#) Load
soiled linen into washing machines and start machines according to
suitable program. Cleaning, drying, unloading and folding linen
from washing machines and dryers according to standards. Loading
processed linen onto carts for distribution to lodges. Clean dryer
filters at the close of shift. Keep work area clean and safe at all
times. Practice safety standards at all times. Rewash stained linen
on a weekly or as directed. Proper utilization of equipment,
supplies and guest amenities. Constant awareness of safety hazards,
(i.e. broken glass, frayed electrical cords, leaks, broken locks,
and suspicious persons) and report to the Executive Housekeeper.
Follow all training procedures set forth in the Bloodborne
Pathogens program. Proper utilization and responsible care of
equipment, supplies and guest amenities as defined by training
standards. Know proper formulas for each linen type: a) check
chemicals daily; b) ability to work with laundry chemicals
frequently c) know the different washing programs available at the
machines. Ability to prioritize and organize work assignments;
delegate work. Ability to motivate assigned staff and maintain a
cohesive team. Ability to think clearly under pressure and exercise
good judgment. Ability to ascertain staff training needs and
provide such training. Assist staff whenever necessary in
performing all job functions. Maintain inventory, cleanliness and
organization of storage areas. Provide feedback on staff
performance to manager. Report disciplinary problems to manager and
participate in the counseling of associates.
May be required to perform other related duties requested by the
Executive Housekeeper. May be required to work overtime based on
occupancy levels during peak season. Required to attend all
scheduled departmental and all employee meetings. Make improvement
recommendations to employees. Supervise departmental operations in
absence of Department Head.
