Data Engineering Lead

Position Description
The Data Engineering Lead manages one or more data engineering projects of moderate complexity. Leads or acts as key team member in defining and builds the data pipelines that will enable faster, better, data-informed decision-making within the business.

This role is based in Houston, Texas.

Your future duties and responsibilities
• Jointly designs and implements a new big data solution which supports high amounts and velocity of data and supports future growth.
• Identifies latest development, testing and deployment techniques to quickly deploy new releases to e.g. deploy new data pipelines and add data sources.
• Takes direct reports, when applicable, through Agile Framework and its respective tools. Influences stakeholders in adopting analyses / outcomes.
• Acts proactively to support the business to further professionalize their MI / Analytic reporting platform, using the ESSA approach.
• Opinions valued by business interface. Plays a prominent role in project related meetings etc.
• Utilizes business partnering in order to gather, analyse and model data and key performance indicators of the highest complexity.
• Working as Data Engineering Lead to develop and deploy innovative big data platforms for advanced analytics and data processing.
• Works independently under broad managerial supervision.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role
• Experience in Source Code Control (e.g. Git, Subversion).
• Experience in Open Source Frameworks (Apache Spark, Hadoop etc.)
• Strong design and coding skills (e.g. Python, Scala, JavaScript).
• Experience with reporting/visualization tools (e.g. SAP Lumira/Design Studio, Spotfire, Power BI)
• Experience with SAP technologies (SAP ECC/ERP, SAP BW, SAP HANA etc.)
• Experience with SQL-based technologies (e.g. MSSQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL).
• Experience with Restful API techniques/developments.
• Experience with data blending technology (e.g. Alteryx).
• Experience with big data platforms; working with large data sets, large amounts of data in motion and numerous big data technologies.
• Experience with working concepts as data pipelining / data wrangling

• Awareness of Agile Framework and its tools such as Visual Studio Team Services (VSTS) Job Competence Requirements These are maximum requirements, so room should be allowed for in-role development.
• Experience with Microsoft or AWS data stack e.g. Microsoft Azure Data Lake, Hadoop (preferably with Spark), Cosmos DB, HDInsight/HBase, MongoDB, Redis, Azure Table/Blob stores etc.
• Agile Project Delivery techniques (e.g. SCRUM) & experience creating and using a wide range of scrum and agile artefacts and techniques, automated testing, personas, user stories, agile games etc
• Certified in Agile Product Owner / SCRUM master and/or other Agile techniques Leadership Skills.
• Data and Analytics Mastery IT Architecture Skill Software Engineering Mastery Integration Solutions Skill Business Analysis Skill
• Comfortable to work with global stakeholders, internally and externally.
• Interpretation of data, highly analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with data architecture and design techniques (local/abstract).

• Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines and balancing multiple priorities.
