Job Description:

Responsible for the data within the Kinder Morgan Natural Gas Pipeline Open Database Standard (KM PODS) ESRI Geodatabase. The accuracy and integrity of the KM PODS database will be managed via creating new data, maintaining existing data, running quality checks against data work, following KM PODS business process workflows, and working from KM PODS procedures and technical guides. This role may work directly with, but not limited to, the following groups within Kinder Morgan: Compliance Systems, MAOP Verification Program, Drafting, Codes and Standards, Integrity, Construction Project Management, and Field Operations.The PODS Gatekeeper's responsibilities are inclusive of the following tasks:Utilize data maintenance applications and ArcGIS tools to review, edit and approve data within a versioned ESRI geodatabase.Work from multiple electronic and hard copy engineering, field survey, inspection, and other approved source documents. Sample source document types are Alignment Sheets, Detail Drawings, Survey Data, Weld Map, Pressure Test Reports, Material Purchasing and Mill Test Records, and ILI Feature Listings.Check all data for location accuracy, table completeness, and compliance as outline in KM PODS data structure standards and technical procedures.Run all KM PODS data quality checks prior to loading working data records into the production database as part of the standard workflow.Support data requests for internal and external customers as requested.Participate in improving PODS working procedures and technical guides with other team members.Provide data editing training as requested for other PODS and non-PODS analystsPosition may be filled at various levels depending on experience and job skills of successful candidate.

Position Requirements

Qualified individual will need to have at least five (5) years of experience performing pipeline as-built work, either as a CAD Drafter or maintaining pipeline databases, such as PODS Spatial, PODS Relational, ISAT or APDM data models. Although a Bachelors level degree is preferred, would consider an Associate's degree and/or qualifying experience in-lieu-of the B.S. degree.Education:Bachelor level Degree in GIS, Engineering or related field of study is preferred.Associate's degree with extensive experience using ArcGIS Software to maintain pipeline databases may be considered in lieu of a bachelor's degree.Skills / Qualifications:Proficient in ESRI ArcGIS software at a minimum, preferred to have a strong domain experience working with ESRI ArcGIS software and enterprise GIS.Experience working with PODS Spatial, PODS Relational, ISAT, APDM or other types of pipeline data models.Prior natural gas pipeline as-built experience required.Must possess a fundamental knowledge of the construction and operation of high pressure gas pipelines and a working knowledge of 49 CFR Part 192.Must have strong analytical skills and logical thought processes, with the ability to identify and resolve (1) complex GIS and database issues/problems and (2) conflicting source documentation information.Must have experience using linear referencing to locate events on route.Must be able to interpret detail drawings and alignment maps, to reference location, and extract dimension and material info.Highly proficient in Microsoft Office applications, specifically MS-Excel, MS-Access, & MS-Word.Able to work within firm deadlines.Able to work within a team, take direction from supervisor, adhere to required work schedules, focus attention on details and follow work rules.Utilize effective teamwork skills to achieve project goals, solve problems and manage conflict.Excellent customer service skills and ability to work with all levels of management as well as employees in corporate and field offices.The individual must be self-motivated and willing to learn new and changing technologies.Ability to organize and prioritize daily work to meet schedules, objectives, and provide status updates.Ability to be productive with minimal supervision.Effective communication skills, both oral and written.Experience using AutoCAD is desirable, but not a requirement.Ability to write SQL queries is desirable, but not a requirement.Must possess and maintain a valid driver license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers.Position may be GIS Coordinator or Sr. GIS Coordinator, depending upon the successful candidate's qualifications, skill sets and experience.Soft SkillsPositive/can-do attitude; self-motivator; ability to stay on task as defined by supervisor; customer focused; critical thinker & problem solver; strong organizational, communication and writing skills; ability to network and build relationships; personal leadership & team player.
