Employees must be eligible to work in the U.S., and the work must be performed in the U.S.Kaplan University Partners on behalf of Wake Forest UniversityCourse Mentor, Part-TimeAbout Kaplan University Partners & Wake Forest University - Fundamentals of BusinessWake Forest University is collaborating with Kaplan University Partners to provide precollege students with exceptional, career-minded enrichment/certificate programs taught online by world-class experts from Wake Forest University and industry. The Wake Forest University - Fundamentals of Business course will show students how today's most competitive companies operate: how they create their brands and products; how they innovate, find people, manage budgets and how investors look at them. This 2-4 week course is ideal for students thinking about studying business, economics, banking, technology or marketing in college. Students will get an inside look at today's business that few high school students have ever experienced and will be guided by Dr. Dan Fogel, an award-winning professor at Wake Forest University, through lecture, multimedia simulations and interactive assignments. Students will also receive personal guidance from a Wake Forest mentor who will provide encouragement and direction on all assignments, inspire and motivate students to succeed and offer brainstorming and ideation help as students prepare for their final project.Role DescriptionKaplan University Partners (KUP) is seeking Wake Forest University students and alumni to act as part-time mentors to precollege students enrolled in online programs. Course mentors will engage and support students one-on-one throughout the 2-4 week course. Mentors also provide individualized support and encouragement at predetermined moments throughout the course, using online video conferencing and digital messaging tools such as email, chat, or SMS. Finally, mentors advise and guide students on course assignments.In preparation for the role, mentors will complete a paid training program (3 hours of self-paced modules and exercises as well as a live component), receive support from KUP staff, and both give and receive support as part of the course mentor team.Key Responsibilities:

  • Mentor up to 10 students per course session
  • Commit to approximately 5 hours per student (approximately 15 hours per week) during the length of the course (2 hours face to face, plus 3 hours of async guidance, feedback and answering questions).
  • Meet with each assigned student for 2 60-minute sessions (online, face-to-face) during the course
  • Review course assignments, provide direction and answer questions
  • Answer ad hoc questions throughout the course session
  • Brainstorm and ideate with students on their final project idea(s)
  • Be familiar with all course material
  • Check-in with the program staff at specified periods
  • Report back on student engagement as requestedTime Commitment:
    • Approximately 5 hours per student for up to 6 students during the course (approximately 15 hours a week)
    • Time includes live student interaction, async engagement, and small operational tasksQualifications:
      • Strong passion for all aspects of business
      • Experience working with adolescents/teens ages 13-17
      • Passion for helping others achieve their goals with an emphasis on delighting and engaging students
      • Strong interest and undergraduate-level proficiency in business
      • Ability to work in the absence of direct supervisory relationships
      • Demonstrated ability to learn and work in digital communications platforms such as email, Zoom, Google Hangouts or Canvas
      • Pass background check
      • Authorization to work in the United States
