OF DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSThis is a managing position for
Houston Water's Regulatory Compliance Cross Connection Control
Program. The Cross Connection Control Program is established to
assure that the seven drinking water systems serving the City of
Houston's customers meets all State and Federal regulatory
requirements and ensures the health and safety of the drinking
water.The position accomplishes department objectives by
supervising staff, organizing, collaborating with departments, and
monitoring work processes.Accomplishes staff job results by
training, guiding, coaching and disciplining employees following
HEAR and Administrative Policy 3-7 by implementing and enforcing
policies, and procedures.Manages Regulatory Compliance Cross
Connection Control Program operations by developing schedules,
assigning and monitoring work, gathering resources, implementing
productivity standards, resolving operations problems, maintaining
reference manuals, and implementing new procedures. Provides
quality service by enforcing regulations and maintaining customer
service standards.Performs advanced technical investigative and
reporting work relative to the regulatory compliance aspects of a
municipal drinking water system, conduct analytical, qualitative,
and quantitative analyses of special projects dealing with the
regulatory concerns at the drinking water systems. Respond to the
needs of employees, executive management, administration,
operations, and the public in a timely and professional manner.
WORKING CONDITIONSThe position may require lifting of moderately
heavy items (up to 40 pounds) and/or long periods of walking field
work. There are occasional exposures to significant levels of heat,
cold, moisture, air pollution, and raw sewage. This position may
involve infrequent exposure to chemical substances and physical
trauma of a minor nature such as cuts, bruises, and minor burns.
This is a Department of Public Works & Engineering Emergency
Management position at the Tier II Level.
