Position Summary
Working under minimal supervision, the Quality Assurance Inspector
will provide in process inspection support during piece part
fabrication, assembly and/or testing operations of mechanical,
electro-mechanical, electronic and softgoods Items. Items may be
fabricated/assembled on site or produced outside the facility. QA
Inspector will be involved throughout the
fabrication/assembly/testing process to ensure the finished product
conforms with applicable drawings, standards, and
specifications.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Quality Assurance Inspector will support the in-process and
final inspection of mechanical, electro-mechanical, electronic and
softgoods Items to Mandatory Inspection Points set out on Work
Authorizing Documents such as Tables of Operations (T.O.s),
Production Identification Documents (PIDs), and Test Preparation
Sheets (TPSs).
- All fabrication is performed on controlled work authorization
documents. Any deviation from applicable drawings, standards,
and/or specifications to be documented on nonconformance
report.
- Effectively communicate with management, quality engineers and
shop personnel to keep production flowing, identify issues and
resolve bottlenecks.
- Support continuous improvement efforts of the company, as
assigned by QA Supervisor.
- Gets company provided training to support workmanship
requirements used in the assembly of electrical and electronic
products. Maintain workmanship certifications by completing annual
and other periodic trainings as required.
- Supports Government DCMA representative and Customer Source
Inspector in the evaluation and performance of GMIPs prior to
progressing or allowing work to progress beyond a pre-established
point.
- Utilize ability to interpret engineering drawings to support in
process inspection, fabrication, assembly, and testing. Use
knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing to assess
acceptability of products.
- Properly utilize inspection tools and equipment as needed and
appropriate based on the drawing/assembly/testing
requirements.
- Witness and provide positive confirmation of completion of
step-by-step sequence of assembly and test processes, as required
by documentation.
- When discrepancies are identified initiate reject tags and
discrepancy reports in accordance with company approved procedures
for rejecting and dispositioning non-conforming hardware.
- Ensure procured articles and materials have been processed,
inspected, and tested by the supplier in accordance with purchase
order requirements. Verify delivered items are accompanied with
required Certificates of Compliance and/or test data reports, as
required by the Purchase Order.
- Potential cross training in dimensional inspection utilizing
CMM/FARO Arm, based on candidate.
- Independently manage assignments and priorities as assigned by
QA Supervisor.
- Conducts quarterly floor audits as assigned by the QA
Supervisor per company procedures.
- Ensure that inspection is done using equipment that is verified
to be calibrated.
- Maintains a positive company image with Customer
representatives.
- Able to support overtime when required - evening, nights and
weekends when needed to meet production schedule.
- Performs other duties assigned by the Quality Assurance
Supervisor.
Qualifications
REQUIRED:
- At least seven (7) years or more experience as QA in flight
assembly setting with proven quality control and inspection
experience in an aerospace related industry.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and work
collaboratively in a cross functional team setting.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical, softgoods,
and mechanical engineering drawings.
- Utilization of common engineering/manufacturing
terminology.
- Experience in utilization and selection of hand use
metrology/inspection tools and equipment.
- Proficient knowledge of AS9100/ISO9001, or other defined
quality standard requirements.
- Ability to solve problems and understand complex requirements
using critical thinking skills.
- High School Degree: technical degree will be a plus.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of
measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages,
ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Demonstrates exceptional organizational skills and can
prioritize to meet deadlines.
- Proficient written and verbal communication skills.
- Skillful in working with common Microsoft programs including
Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
- Familiarization and working knowledge of Government Quality
Specifications and Procedures.
- Proficiency in and a working knowledge of the use of
measurement and test equipment.
REQUISITION PREFERENCES:
- Desired NOT REQUIRED :
- Experience processing NASA Flight Hardware and familiarity with
NASA JSC processes.
- Experience in utilizing/programming Coordinate Measuring
Machine and/or FARO Arm to perform dimensional inspection on
in-process or finished flight items. Training to operate the
CMM/Faro Arm to be provided by the company as needed based on
candidate.
- Familiarization with the NASA / IPC Workmanship
specifications.
- Familiarization with the NASA Class System.
- Familiarization with Contamination Control, FOD Control, and
ESD Control processes.
