What You'll Get to Do:
CACI is looking for an engineer with experience in vehicle systems
or operations (e.g., aircraft, space vehicle, satellite, submarine,
etc.) and/or network integration to support the Lunar Gateway
Program at NASA Johnson Space Center. This exciting position
involves analyzing spacecraft operations and coordinating with
subsystem experts to determine the flight software data and network
data flows required to configure and operate the data-driven
Gateway safety critical flight software for autonomous Gateway
operation.
The Gateway vehicle will be an outpost orbiting the Moon that
provides vital support for a sustainable, long-term human return to
the lunar surface, as well as a staging point for deep space
exploration. The Gateway is a destination for astronaut expeditions
and science investigations, as well as a port for deep space
transportation such as landers en route to the lunar surface or
spacecraft embarking to destinations beyond the Moon.
This position requires a self-motivated, capable person with strong
verbal and written communication skills. In addition to outstanding
technical expertise, the individual must be very people savvy, have
strong customer relationship skills, possess a positive team-player
attitude, be flexible and willing to take on new assignments and
responsibilities as they arise. Finally, the most qualified
candidate will be an articulate speaker able to communicate complex
technical ideas in a convincing manner, must share our passion for
our Nation's Space Program, and share in the excitement of
developing future human-rated space vehicles.
More About the Role:
Job responsibilities include:
Gain an understanding of the flight software data requirements
including data formats and schemas.
Analyze vehicle and subsystems operations and identify data
products and data dependencies required for autonomous vehicle
operation.
Work with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to develop tasks, task
timelines, data, and data interfaces.
Define Network data flows by analyzing vehicle and subsystems
operations, data dependencies, and data throughput required for
autonomous vehicle operation.
Ensure timing characteristics of data flowing across the network
align with the flight software execution schedules and provide the
right data at the required time to support system operation.
Determine properties of the onboard network to resolve
quality-of-service issues for communicating devices.
Coordinate data product and network issues and resolutions with
NASA SMEs, commercial partners, and international partners.
This work takes place at NASA/JSC in Houston, TX, a highly
stimulating and dynamic environment that is critical in human space
flight and the space exploration initiative.
You'll Bring These Qualifications:
Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.
B.S. in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Computer or Software
Engineering, Computer Science, or related disciplines required.

skills.
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
M.S. in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Computer or Software
Engineering, Computer Science, or related disciplines.
Experience integrating data products with software. Experience in
human-rated safety critical flight software in aerospace or other
industries.
Experience in human spaceflight operations or satellite control,
e.g., JSC MCC flight controller or satellite operator, with
knowledge of a variety of vehicle systems and flight phases, is
very useful.
Experience with autonomous systems, fault management, and mission
planning and execution.
Experience coordinating technical issues across multiple
engineering teams.
Experience in avionics networks including reliability and timing
characteristics of the network.
Experience with avionics busses, including Time-Triggered Ethernet
(TTE), Time-Triggered Protocol (TTP/C), ARINC 664, ARINC 429, or
Spacewire.
Experience in aligning network data flows to Flight Software
execution schedules.
