Job Description:
Supervisor, Fire & Life Safety Ideal candidate will have a
bachelors degree or a minimum of five years of supervisory
experience; construction knowledge, fire alarm/safety,
planning/scheduling, ordering materials experience. SUMMARY The
primary purpose of the Supervisor, Fire & Life Safety position is
to coordinate and supervise the daily operation of the fire safety
programs. Serve in an advisory capacity and report, monitor, and
mitigate discrepancies of departmental, institutional, and
regulatory guidelines and procedures. JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
Compliance - Develops and produces periodic compliance and
performance reports. Also manages work activities via the
Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). Program Support
- Develops and maintains compliance programs with regulatory
agencies. Establishes and monitors a system of internal controls. -
Develops and maintains the annual, quarterly, and monthly budget;
manages contracts. Program Leadership - Supervises the fire safety
program and provides expertise and support to technician's efforts
in maintaining Fire and Life Safety systems. - Supervises and
develops staff and meets all the Core Institutional Success Factors
in the employee evaluation. Associate's degree in Applied or Basic
Science or Engineering. Eight years of experience working with fire
alarm or fire sprinkler system design and installation and two
years of team lead/supervisory experience. May substitute
additional education or experience on a one-to-one basis.
Successful completion of the LEADing Self Accelerate program may
substitute for one year of required supervisory or management
experience. Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and
administered by Human Resources. Class A, B or C valid Texas
driver's license depending on the type and weight of vehicle to be
operated and number of passengers to be carried and eligible to
drive State and institutional vehicles and certified in one or more
of the following: Certified Fire Protections Specialist (CFPS) by
the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) . Certified Fire
Inspector (CFI) by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA).
Certified Fire Plan Examiner (CFPE) by the National Fire Protection
Association (NFPA). Certified Safety Professional (CSP) by the
Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP). Certified Hazardous
Materials Manager (CHMM) by the Institute of Hazardous Materials
Management (IHMM). Registered Professional Engineer (PE) by the
Texas Board of Professional Engineers (TBPE). National Institute
for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) Level III
certification or higher in field of Fire Protection. Fire Alarm
Planning Superintedent (APS) by the Texas State Fire Marshal's
Office. Fire Alarm Technician (FAL) by the Texas State Fire
Marshal's Office. Sprinkler System General Inspector (RME-I) by the
Texas State Fire Marshal's Office. It is the policy of The
