** Security Officer, Bayou Bend****Job Category****:** Security **Requisition Number****:** SECUR001184 Showing 1 location **Job Details****Description*****Responsibilities:**** Provides security for Bayou Bend Collection and Gardens, which includes a historic house museum and 14 acres of property* Controls access into the house museum* Greets docents and guests and directs visitors to the first room of the tour* Confirms the number of visitors to the house and works in a team environment to coordinate guest totals with other security officers and museum docents* Fills out daily visitor report, secures entrance doors, performs closing procedures and fills in other security positions as needed***Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:**** Must be able to work standing, walking, climb stairs and lift up to 50 lbs. (able to lift a fire extinguisher or a small child)* Must have good verbal communication skills in order to speak to visitors and be understood* Must be tactful and polite when dealing with public and must be assertive, if necessary* Must be observant in order to detect and report unusual behavior or circumstances* Must be alert and able to respond quickly in an emergency***Education and Experience:**** High school graduate* Previous experience in security is helpful, but not required (training will be provided)* Security Officers are required to maintain non-commission status through the Texas Commission on Private Security* All applicants are required to have a valid state issued ID or driver license in order to complete the application processThe successful candidate will be required to meet our pre-employment background screening requirements.*MFAH recognizes diversity and inclusivity as fundamental to our organization.
