Biomaterials Scientist - 2300001Z Description Systemic Bio is a 3D
Systems subsidiary based in Houston, TX, focused on the development
of human vascularized organ and disease models to be used for drug
discovery and development. Founded in August 2022 with a $15M seed
investment from its parent company, Systemic Bio is using its
proprietary bioprinting and organ-on-a-chip technology to
accelerate drug development timelines, increase clinical trial
success rates, and eventually put an end to animal testing. As a
Biomaterials Scientist, you will run key experiments to develop new
biomaterials for our bioprinting R&D programs. You will see
products move through experimental design stages to productization.
You will collaborate with other bioengineers to deliver on
milestones set up for our programs, ensuring to meet timelines and
present desirable results. The successful candidate will be
self-motivated and have demonstrated exceptional communication and
organizational skills to work in a fast-paced environment.
Requirements:
- Advanced degree (MS or PhD) or equivalent experience in
materials science or relevant area of scientific research;
- Experience with biomaterial synthesis, processing, scale-up and
characterization;
- Experience sourcing raw materials and managing a portfolio of
suppliers;
- 4+ years experience with hydrogels synthesis and
characterization of structure-function relationship;
- Successful track record of taking materials from the bench to
the market highly preferred;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills;
- Extensive experience documenting, analyzing, interpreting
experimental data;
- Excellent organizational skills;
- Experience setting up QA experiments and processes for
biomaterial production;
- Experience with ISO 10993 standards, biomaterials,
toxicological assessment, extractable and leachable analysis, and
biocompatibility assessment highly preferred;
- Experience with bioinks and 3D printing preferred, but not
required. Qualifications Desired Skills:
- Mammalian cell culture;
- 3D culture systems;
- L/D, IHC, RTPCR, histology and ELISA;
- Fluorescence and confocal microscopy;
