          RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT SCIENTIST

          Reports to: Sr. Director

          JOB DESCRIPTION
          Rockwater's Research and Development Scientist will conduct polymer applications testing in the lab and in the field, manage new product development and adoption, and assist other scientists in polymer synthesis, determination of physical characteristics, and product characterization and documentation.
          The essential job functions include, but are not limited to


          • Ability to conduct jar, Buchner Funnel, settle ability, and other liquids/solids separation testing.


          • Basic knowledge of coagulant, flocculant, and dewatering product chemistry.


          • Expertise in how these products work.


          • Ability to drive polymer program development in industrial applications such as mining, HPI/CPI, metals processing, and other heavy industries.


          • Ability to develop/adopt, implement, and manage standardized product performance testing.

            Requirements
            To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:


            • 7 to 10 years of water treatment polymer applications testing experience


            • Comfortable with MS Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.


            • Strong communication and customer service skills; effective public speaker.


            • Energy service company management experience helpful.


            • Capability and proven abilities in research, science and technology.


            • Ability to think outside the box.


            • Demonstrated ability to be organized, flexible and work under pressure to meet deadlines.


            • Exhibit ability to be a strong team player.


            • Possess excellent written and verbal skills, as well as excellent interpersonal skills.


            • Ability to manage multiple projects in an environment of constantly changing priorities.


            • Ability to work independently.
