SUMMARY OF COMPANYSouthwest Shipyard, LP provides gas freeing and cleaning services, steaming, and flaring services, Barge and boat repair, Surface preparation and painting, water treatment and new construction services to the commercial and government marine industry. Southwest Shipyard owns and operates four (4) shipyards in South Texas with direct deep-water access to the Gulf of Mexico. Our motto is "Faster, Safer, Better".JOB SUMMARYThis position is primarily responsible for providing administrative support to the HR Department to include the day-to-day Human Resources operations. This role will carry out various responsibilities in facilitating HR initiatives, and HRIS entry as needed.RESPONSIBILITIES--- Support the HR Team with full employee life cycle matters to include recruiting, employee relations, employee engagement initiatives, learning & development, communication, onboarding, and off-boarding, etc.--- Provide HR customer service by assisting with answering simple employee requests and questions, passing along complex issues to the HR Business Partner or HR Director.--- Support communication efforts to include external (social media) and internal communication to highlight company initiatives and employee engagement.--- Ensure confidentiality is maintained at all levels throughout the organization.--- Assists with new-employee onboarding to include drug-screening and background checks and new hire orientation.--- Data entry in the HR System to include timekeeping, performance management, eLearning, and personnel changes, as needed.--- Assists with recruitment and interview process, keeping lines of communication open with candidates, hiring manager and HR.--- Liaise with third-party contractors, managers, and Safety department to schedule testing, interviews, and placement of contract labor.--- Schedules meetings and interviews as requested by the HR Business Partner or HR Director.--- Assist with company merchandise ordering and inventory.--- Files documents into appropriate employee e-files or HR system.--- Assists or prepares correspondence as requested.--- Prepares new-employee e-files and/or uploads documents in HR system.--- Assist in ad hoc HR projects as needed.PHYSICAL / MENTAL REQUIREMENTSThe employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable workplace accommodation. The individual must also be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to work or visit within areas where it is required.In addition, the Employee must also be capable of:--- Walking, stepping, climbing, or otherwise moving from one location on the job site to another.--- Standing, stooping, kneeling, squatting, reaching, climbing, or sitting for long periods of time.--- Repetitive movements by feet, shoulders, arms, wrists, hands, and back in the performance of work.--- This position operates in a clerical office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.The Company expects and requires all employees to observe and fulfill all safety responsibilities as outlined in workplace safety training and actively work toward maintaining a safe workplace. Executive.EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS--- Associate degree in human resources, Business Administration or other business-related field of study or equivalent work experience.--- 1-3 years working with Human Resources data/metrics / or specialist areas.--- Strong experience with Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint, Word, conditional formatting, data tables, etc.).--- Ability to multitask while maintaining confidentiality, a high degree of attention to detail and accuracy in a high-paced, dynamic environment.--- Excellent analytical problem-solving capabilities: ability to exercise independent judgment in methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.--- Ability to combine HR knowledge and experience and translate technical data into non-technical formats for ease of understanding and administration.--- Able to exercise a high degree of confidentiality.--- Highly energetic and self-starter.--- Thoughtful decision-making, problem resolution and creative thinking skills are a must.WORK SCHEDULEMonday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pmLocation: Houston, Texas 8502 Cypress StHouston, TX 77012Regular attendance and punctuality are required of all employees.Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
