We are looking to hire a key member of our R&D team at our Kraton Innovation Center located in Houston.The purpose of the Sr. Technician role is to perform polymer process research and development as directed and in collaboration with scientists , to support the maintenance and growth of the business in target market segments. The Sr. Technician is expected to perform all duties in a safe manner, and to maintain a safe operating environment.Key ResponsibilitiesSafety Carry out activities following well defined safety and environmental standards Monitor the lab to ensure regulations and safety are enforcedExperimental Formulate, set-up and execute polymer process & product experimental programs under supervision; adapts experimental set-up based on results Execute experimental programs with responsibility for quality of data produced and meeting agreed deadline Troubleshoot equipment issues; carry out basic maintenance of lab equipmentData Analysis Obtain & organize experimental data independently before submitting to supervisorCommunication Provide information to predominantly internal customers regarding results obtained And other duties as assigned to safely performRequired Skills Basic understanding of underlying scientific concepts related to the experimental work Mechanical and instrumentation aptitude in building experimental set-ups and modification based on results Ability to explain to others how and why the applied methods/equipment work Ability to conduct routine presentations and adequately answer ad-hoc questions Time management and ability to multitask/prioritize to meet timelines Detail oriented in regard to documentation of procedures, observations and resultsEducation, Certifications & Licenses HS Diploma + 6 years relevant experience OR Associate Degree: Biology, Chemistry, Engineering + 4 years relevant experience OR Bachelor of Science: Biology, Chemistry, Engineering + 2 years relevant experience -------------------------------------------------The statements above are intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by employees assigned to this classification.
