Connect with NRG on Facebook, LinkedIn and follow us on Twitter @nrgenergy.We are seeking a full-time Jr Cloud Architect to serve as the principal lead in managing the resource and cost usage of the cloud environment. The purpose of this role is to ensure we are using our cloud instances effectively, eliminating unnecessary spending, and obtaining clear visibility on our usage. This role will also actively participate in all other Cloud Center of Excellence activities to help the team effectively govern and architect NRG's AWS and Azure environments. Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and continue to forecast the cloud budgets
  • oversee the Billing Dashboards, and manage Savings Plans
  • Create operational metrics to demonstrate costs and usage and to identify areas for cost-cutting and improvement
  • Serve as a liaison between Azure/AWS and NRG to obtain recommendations on how to reduce costs and use resources effectively in our environments
  • Manage our AWS and Azure Reserved Instances
  • Ensure all resources are tagged according to tagging standards to tag both new and pre-existing resources as we grow
  • Devise and distribute billing reports to internal stakeholders, to achieve effective cost management
  • Work with CCoE team to help NRG teams to architect and review future cloud designs.Working Conditions:

    • Some overtime potentially required as special projects arise.
    • No travel required Minimum Requirements:
      • Understands AWS and Azure design principles
      • Understands Cloud computing technologies
      • Experience of working in an Agile/Scrum environment
      • Understands AWS and/or Azure RI's and Savings plans.
      • College degree in Finance or Information Systems preferredPreferred Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have 2 years of experience in cloud resource management, specifically, Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS). Finops certification a plus. The ideal candidate takes ownership over forecasting future cloud expenditures and verifies that we are making the most out of our cloud investments.Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
        • Ability to multi-task and prioritize deadlines
        • Ability to operate in cross-functional and multidisciplinary teams
        • Customer focused with an attitude to deliver excellent customer outcomes through technical expertise
        • Ability to lead meetings and to liase with business units and leadership team
        • Self-Motivated
