JOB DESCRIPTIONPOSITION: HousemanDEPARTMENT: Food & BeverageREPORTS TO: Service DirectorGENERAL POSITION SUMMA RYThis position is responsible for aiding in the organization, coordination and supervision of the preparation of Club Events spaces for the Club's private dining room(s) and private events.Under the supervision of the Service Director the Houseman assists in coordinating and evaluating the setup of each event and participates in accordance with the Club standards at high volume levels, event specifications and production schedules. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Comply at all times with Petroleum Club of Houston standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient club operations. Ensure the correct and timely set up of all Banquet Event Order functions. Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and sanitation throughout the banquet function space pre-function space and storage areas to include the carpets walls walks windows and heating/air conditioning units , ice machines, etc. Maintain the banquet storeroom in a neat and organized manner stocked with any and all appropriate supplies necessary for meetings or food service functions. Be familiar with fire exit and extinguisher location and follow all hotel safety rules. Breakdown after the completion of functions and ensure that all equipment and supplies are stored properly. Notify management of any hazards. Perform other tasks/jobs as assigned by the supervisor or manager. Make rounds through the halls each shift to ensure public areas are clean and tidy, taking care to remove or replace anything out of order. Coordinate and help housekeeping with heavy lifting and priority requests. Use your watchfulness to report missing or found articles and any sign of damage or needed repair. Be graciously attentive to guests, answering questions and getting additional help when it's needed.SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL and ABILITYThe individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities to be able to explain and demonstrate that he/she, can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, suppliers, members, and employees. Ability to be tactful, courteous and diplomatic when dealing with members, guests, and fellow employees. Ability to coordinate a variety of tasks in a timely, accurate, and appropriate manner. Ability to coordinate and communicate with other supervisors and employees to get work accomplished and ensure member satisfaction. Ability to work with a multi-cultural staff and as a team member.PHYSICAL DEMANDSThe physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Required to stand, walk, climb stairs, balance stoop, crouch, crawl and/or sit up to 8 hrs per day or more. Use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools and/or controls. The ability to quickly make coordinated movements on one hand, a hand together with one arm, or two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects. Reach with hands and arms. The ability to keep the hand and arm steady while making an arm movement or while holding the arm and hand in one position. Occasionally lift, push and/or move up to 24KG (52 lbs). Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, vision sufficient enough to read, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Independent mobility through Club. The ability to use one's abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body repeatedly or continuously over time without "giving out" or fatiguing. The ability to exert muscle force repeatedly or continuously over time. This involves muscular endurance and resistance to muscle fatigue. The ability to coordinate movements of two or more limbs together (for example, two arms, two legs, or one leg and one arm) while sitting, standing, or lying down. It does not involve performing the activities while the body is in motion. The ability to exert one's self physically over long periods of time without getting winded or out of breath. Ability to work in multiple temperature variances for long periods of time, including freezing temperatures and extreme heat conditions. The ability to keep or regain one's body balance or stay upright when in an unstable position. 40+ hours a week as an hourly employee.OTHER Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established by the Petroleum Club from time to time, is essential for the successful performance of this position.Employees with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment. Employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business of the Club, this is to include some Holidays. Upon employment, all employees are required to fully comply with the Petroleum Club rules and regulations for the safe and efficient operation of the Club's facilities. Employees who violate thePetroleum Club rules and regulations will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.SPECIAL REQUIREMEN TS Must possess an outgoing personality. Must possess honesty and integrity. Must be courteous and tactful at all times. Must treat others with kindness and respect. Ability to effectively communicate policy and programs in a professional manner to members and staff. Excellent understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures.
