Job Description
Albemarle Corporation is seeking a Principal Corporate Estimator to
work as an integral part of the assigned project team and meet the
expectations of the assigned project manager, while taking
estimating procedural direction from the Albemarle Director of
Estimating.
Responsibilities
- Adhering to Albemarle Core Values.
- Produce, review, and validate estimates for all project phases
as required, beginning FEL1 Phase 1 or Concept Development (+/-
50%) through Definitive or Implementation FEL3 Phase 3 (+/-
10%)
- Coordinating and attending all estimate kick-off and review
meetings
- Assure that the Albemarle Project Process (APP) is being
adhered to
- Review and evaluate all documentation for required level of
proper engineering deliverables to produce requested level of
estimate
- Display a proficiency in the use of current tools used to
produce and evaluate requested estimates. (ASPEN, Cleopatra, or
Internal EPC Developed Tools)
- File all completed estimates according to the Albemarle
estimating procedure for document retention
- Track & record estimate values through the various levels of
estimates produced, including options and multiple iterations of
produced estimated values
Skills and Qualifications:
- Demonstrate core competency and complete understanding of
Estimating core processes requiring minimal direction and
supervision.
- Strong organization skills, the capacity to successfully manage
competing priorities, maintain attention to detail and meet
deadlines.
- Proficient in various estimating methods, processes, and
procedures, in addition to the estimate types, classifications, and
components.
- Complete understanding of market pricing and pricing sources in
area of specialization.
- Broad knowledge and experience in EPC and construction
estimating practices and methods.
- Extensive experience in understanding project scope including
performing, leading, and directing quantity takeoffs, statistical
analysis, and cost and price analysis. Skill in understanding
technical discipline processes. Broad knowledge of engineering and
construction codes and standards.
- Working knowledge with commercial terms and conditions
(contractor relationships, currency exchange, taxation, inflation,
insurance, escalation, etc.).
- Proficiency in the understanding and use of cost indexing
(Domestic and International) including escalation projections
sources.
- Understanding of project cash flows and the corresponding time
value of money as the cost of working capital.
- Proficient in developing and applying risk models identifying
project risk. Recommending and setting contingency amounts. Leading
and directing Risk/Contingency development workshops.
- Excellent applied analytical and quantitative skills. Effective
in utilizing metrics to provide reasonableness checks.
- Knowledge of financial report systems and controller account
codes.
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's degree, Construction Sciences, Engineering, or
related field.
- 15 - 20+ years of estimating experience on projects in the
Chemical and Petrochemical industry.
- Previous work experience in Major Project development and
execution circa > US$100M execution cost.
- Previous experience in Chemical refinement and extraction
technologies, a plus.
- Previous estimating experience functioning as an Owner
Operator, a plus.
