Repsol has an opening for a Middle Office Analyst to join the
Wholesale & Gas Trading Business Unit. The position is based out of
our US headquarters in The Woodlands, Texas. We offer a hybrid work
model (3 days in the office, 2 days remote) and a compressed work
schedule (9/80).
Summary
The Middle Office area reports to the Control & Administration
North America Management Unit and is in charge of the measure and
follow-up of both economic results and market risks within the
North America business.
The Junior Middle Office Analyst is responsible for analysis of
market risks taken within a specific product area, monitoring
commodity risk positions, understanding P&L attribution and
drivers, and performing quantitative and qualitative analysis on
material positions and risks of the respective portfolio. The role
will assess risk exposures, prepare daily position and P&L
reports and communicate with key areas of the organization.
Analysts will primarily interface with the trading desk and other
middle office and support groups (i.e. Finance, Operations,
etc.).
Responsibilities: The Middle Office Analyst will be primarily
responsible for and contribute to:
* Generate timely and accurate daily and end-of-month P&L along
with market risk exposure reports
* Review reports to ensure deal capture, positions, price curves,
and settlement prices are accurately reflected
* Assist in the setup and configuration of ETRM systems
* Ensure that commercial transactions and related risks are
appropriately defined and captured by the ETRM system and risk
methodologies
* Define and develop new analysis tools and/or improvement of the
current ones
* Implementation support of these developments in the official
systems. Functional design and validation
* Communication and dialogue with other business areas (Front
Office, Back Office, Process Support, Accounting, Corporate Risk,
Contracts)
* Assist with special projects, such as: ETRM and related
technology projects; New product initiatives; Periodic accounting
close activities, such as explain economic results to accounting
results; Ad hoc inquiries
* Contribute to the development of the Middle Office team and to
the positive working environment
Experience & Qualifications:
* Authorized to work in the United States for any US employer
* Bachelor's degree (Engineering, Finance, Business or similar
field)
* 2+ years of experience in energy or other commodity business
preferred. Internships could be considered for experience.
* Understanding of Natural Gas transactions including financial,
physical, structured transactions, transportation and storage
* Understanding of risk management methodologies and valuation
models.
* MS Excel required and experience with VBA and/or SQL a plus
* Dynamic interpersonal skills with strong verbal, writing and
presentation skills
* Strong attention to detail
* Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment as well
as part of a team
* Knowledge of Allegro a plus
