Job Summary The Director of Fleet, Shop Services & Radio Communications (FS&R) provides leadership and direction across a multi-state service territory supporting GAS, CEHE, HSP, Corporate & Generation. The position is responsible for three teams: Fleet, Shop Services and Radio Communications. Responsibilities include providing leadership on strategic and tactical aspects to the fleet operations, shop services and radio communications teams. Builds and maintains cooperative working relationships between all Company departments. Essential Functions

  • Development of the strategy for:
    • Fleet road map, electric vehicles and equipment, vehicle safety, fleet optimization, fleet operational activities, and evolution of transportation.
    • Shops services, validating current operations as well as potential service offerings.
    • Radio communications, validating current operations as well as potential service offerings.
    • Oversight of Fleet team:
      • Planning, procuring, managing, and disposition of the company's fleet (vehicles and equipment)
      • Maintenance and repairs, including service turnaround time
      • Fuel management and maintenance activities
      • Utilization of fleet management software (Fleet Focus)
      • 3rd party providers
      • Oversight of Shops Services team:
        • Testing, refurbishing, and repairing CenterPoint Houston equipment including Intelligent Grid Switching Devices ("IGSDs"), substation circuit switches, trip savers, reclosers, regulators, hot sticks, ground cables, and other specialty tools
        • Fabrication of new switches, substation platforms, and other fabricated items needed by operations
        • Field troubleshooting in support of CEHE & Gas Operations
        • Oversight of Radio Communications team:
          • Installing, maintaining, supporting, and restoring communication systems used by CenterPoint Houston.
          • Investigating and addressing radio frequency interference that may hinder the functionality of these systems and addressing trouble tickets reported by internal clients in operations regarding any of the radio systems. Essential Functions (cont.)
            • Ensure key FS&R measures are met or exceeded that drive continuous improvement in the organization.
            • Achieve and maintain best-practice service delivery through an innovative diverse team of employees, technology, and processes achieving the highest level of service and quality at an optimized cost.
            • Understand operational and technical issues associated with multi-site environments and create a strong "client support" culture.
            • Communicates strategic direction to FS&R department and business stakeholders, and provides guidance on direct/indirect financial responsibility, reliability, and customer issues.
            • Responsible for processes and procedures for activities relating to the Fleet, Shop Services and Radio Communications with internal customers, contractors, suppliers, employees, stakeholders, and the communities in which the organization operates.
            • Utilize and drive adoption of analytics to support data driven recommendations
            • Establish, monitor, and maintain productivity and quality standards and reports, develop and monitor budget and cost controls, oversee SOX controls (as applicable), and focus on continuous improvement within Supply Chain but specifically within FS&R. Determine if corrective action is needed and direct changes which need to be made.
            • Establish departmental KPI's around speed, cost, and quality that monitor the deliver exceptional customer experience.
            • Provides training, guidance, direction, and developmental opportunities to support staff development.
            • Ensures employees are aware of and comply with company, government, and customer policies, procedures, and regulations (OSHA, DOT, Homeland Security, etc.) including audits as required for FS&R department.
            • Conducts various personnel actions including, but not limited to hiring, performance appraisals, promotions, and transfers of Management level personnel. Essential Functions (cont.)
              • Monitors activities of work teams to ensure safe practices are in place and being followed at all times. Conducting facility, tools, and equipment safety inspections; conducting accident investigations; transporting injured employees to receive medical care, as needed; and managing associated documentation (physicians' statements, FMLA, safety inspection documents, etc.). Monitor building to ensure proper housekeeping is being practiced. Give guidance on safety and security issues, and interface with corporate on all issues
              • Analyzes, develops, and implements operational and system best practices to minimize cost while maintaining superior service.
              • Communicates with Fleet/Shop/Radio management, subordinates, vendors, and contractors to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
              • Be available for consultations with other department managers, directors and executives and direct reporting supervisors on as needed basis to provide direction necessary for day to day operations and to address cross functional issues and objectives.

                • Requires a bachelor's degree from an accredited college, university.
