How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?
The Trade Compliance & Transportation Specialist will support the
Airgas organization with overall compliance with U.S. laws and
regulations governing both export and import transactions, and
ensure compliance with certain US Department of Transportation
regulations, related company policies and procedures. This position
requires 5+ years of international trade compliance and
transportation experience, and will support the Sr Director of
Transportation & Trade Compliance on the implementation and
execution of the trade compliance and transportation initiatives
and activities within the organization.
Support a corporate-wide strategy for the continued development of
an industry leading trade compliance and transportation programs in
alignment with regulatory requirements and emerging trends.
Function as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) on all aspects of
import/export and transportation compliance and provide day-to-day
guidance to Airgas operations and associates. This includes
in-depth knowledge and experience with IATA/ICAO and IMDG/IMO
regulations.
Ensure all applicable trade and transportation training is
relevant, updated and assigned to affected associates.
Develop and support Airgas transportation programs for hardgoods
and compressed gasses in accordance with Title 49 CFR for highway,
rail, vessel and air for both domestic and international
transportation.
Champions and promotes the Airgas trade compliance and
transportation program to meet organizational needs and constraints
and heightened regulatory requirements.
Support the development, implementation and maintenance of the
Airgas Trade Compliance & applicable Transportation Manual.
Qualified to lead and provide in-house training of trade compliance
& transportation when necessary.
Support Regional/BU SME's by providing remote guidance and
compliance support when necessary.
Supports external source that provides product classifications
(Harmonized Tariff Schedule and Export Control Classification
Numbers) to meet import and export regulatory requirements and
maintain a current and robust database of all classifications.

Are you a MATCH?
Required Education:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics or Transportation,
International Trade, Law or related field preferred. Applicable job
experience may be substituted in lieu of education.
Licensed Customs Broker, preferred but not a must
Certification in IATA/ICAO and IMDG/ICAO regulations preferred, but
not a must
Required Length & Type of Experience:
A minimum of 5+ years of international trade and transportation
compliance experience demonstrating increasing leadership
responsibility in positions within distribution or transportation
environments.
Prior demonstrated experience in building, implementing,
maintaining and tracking trade compliance and transportation
programs and initiatives.
Experience in assigning HTS and ECCN product classifications
(safety equipment and gas industry preferred), and understanding
Incoterms and FTA programs.
Experience with reading, understanding and interpreting IATA/ICAO,
IMDG/ICAO and Title 49 CFR with respect to dangerous goods
transportation.
Detailed understanding of federal and international regulations on
industrial gas or safety equipment.
Industrial gas and/or safety equipment industry experience is
strongly preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
U.S. citizenship or U.S. permanent residency required.
Ability to interpret and comprehend U.S. import/export and US DOT
regulations.
Experience working in a team environment on collaborative
projects.
Organized and effective at time management with strong multitasking
abilities.
Self-starter able to work independently under minimal
supervision.
Must exercise discretion and independent judgment.
Takes ownership of their given areas of responsibility.
Commitment and engagement through a high level of work ethic and
utilization of abilities for the best of the company.
Must have excellent organizational, written and oral communication,
listening and presentation skills including the ability to
effectively present and discuss technical information and respond
to questions from employees, government agency representatives and
customers.
Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to establish trust and
relationships.
Demonstrated openness to change, flexibility, and adaptability.
Ability to motivate teams and simultaneously manage multiple
projects.
Excellent computer skills with Google and MS Office applications:
Word, Excel, PP.
Experience working with SAP system is preferred.
