Associate will assist the Texas A&M Natural Resources Institute
(NRI) in supporting private land stewardship, military land
sustainability, and species conservation by providing research and
policy insights to land and wildlife managers. Also assist to
comprise experts and researchers strategically positioned across
the nation to address today's most critical natural resource
challenges. Responsibilities : -Responsible for managing and
completing an array of natural resources research projects across a
variety of funding sources (state, federal, private, etc.). -Plan,
coordinate, and execute field surveys as well as compile, analyze,
and summarize results into scientific and clientele-oriented
publications. -Seasonally frequent travel to field sites that are
in-state and out of state will be required. -Design, plan, conduct,
and coordinate experiments in support of various wildlife and plant
research projects -Evaluate, select, and apply standard techniques
of routine research; keep detailed records of data and methods -Use
computers and laboratory or technical equipment to perform data
analysis, statistical analysis, and technical evaluation of
research experiments and results -Summarize results for scientific
and clientele-oriented publications. -Prepare and write proposals
to funding agencies; maintain financial accounts related to
research projects. -Supervise undergraduate and/or graduate
students and other laboratory, technical, or field staff involved
in research. -Other duties as assigned Required Education and
Experience: -Bachelor’s degree in relevant field (Wildlife
Sciences, Rangeland Sciences, Ecology, Environmental Sciences,
etc.) -Four years of related professional experience. Preferred
Education and Experience : -Knowledge of statistical programs (R,
JMP, SAS, etc.) -Experience with GIS applications and basic
geospatial analysis skills (ArcGIS, QGIS, R) -Knowledge of
bioacoustics data analysis software (Kaleidoscope, R, etc.)
-Ability to conduct field surveys in adverse weather conditions for
extended times Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
-Familiarity with appropriate laboratory, technical, and field
equipment -Ability to effectively utilize a computer and applicable
software to curate and manage data, perform statistical analyses,
present data, and perform other computer related tasks. -Experience
with plant and animal surveys in desert and grassland ecosystems.
-Proficient with Microsoft Office -Ability to exercise good
judgement -Ability to work independently or collaboratively
-Ability to multitask and manage a team. -Excellent interpersonal
skills -Good written and verbal communication skills Soft Funding
Clause: Due to this position’s salary having all or a portion of it
being funded by grants or contracts, the continuing salary and
overall employment is contingent upon the availability of these
